Our Review of the Svan Anka High Chair

Meet the Svan Anka High Chair, which brings gorgeous modern style to the table at an economical price. The Anka High Chair by Svan works both as a traditional high chair and as a booster chair for when little ones are ready to eat at the family table. Made from sustainable wood and standing up to years of use, the Anka helps you tread lightly on the earth.

Benefits for Mom and Dad: Not crazy about the giant plastic high chairs dominating the market? The Svan Anka High Chair blends seamlessly with your carefully chosen décor. Your guests will remark on the sharp look of your high chair.

For feeding time, the plastic tray cover is dishwasher safe, the cushion is machine washable, and you can wipe the chair easily with a damp cloth. Store the tray on the back of the chair and fold the legs for compact storage.

Benefits for Baby: For baby, the Svan Anka offers ergonomic support with an adjustable tray, seat, and footrest. As a booster, children can sit up at the table and enjoy a meal with family. A 3-point harness keeps babies safe and secure. The Svan Anka High Chair accomodates children from 6 months old to 5 years (or 50 lbs).

Safety:

  • 3-point harness
  • Phthalate and bisphenal-A free
  • PBDE free
  • JPMA/ASTM safety certified

Comparison: For all the bells and whistles, check out the Svan High Chair. Made of sustainable bent birch, the Svan High chair's seat adjusts horizontally and converts to an adult chair able to accommodate up to 250 lbs. With so many added details, the Svan High Chair costs more than the Anka.

2010 Chair Poorly Manufactured

1
Reviewer: Anonymous , Kailua Kona, HI Date: June 30, 2010
We bought one (in natural) in 2008 for our first baby and loved the clean look and quality manufacturing. It's super easy to adjust and baby #1 loved it. Just got one shipped for the current baby, and the quality has deteriorated drastically. Chair used to be made from well-made plywood, now is made from pieces of random wood (grey tone, reddish, brownish, etc) glued together. In some places the pieces aren't completely touching. Also the tray was too large for the plastic cover, such that the cover already has a large crack (because it couldn't latch properly onto the wood below). The pre-drilled holes for the footrest and bottom-of-chair bars were off by about 1/8-1/4 inch such that you couldn't screw the whole thing together. I loved the chair I bought in 2008 but this time around I am returning it and am very disappointed. I wish they didn't have to move manufacturing to China, and wish the quality control department would have caught all of these defects.

Great Chair

Bought this chair as a 2nd for grandma house. She wanted something sturdy, that could fold and fit into the house. With so many cheap, plastic models on the market I was thrilled to find this and wasn't disappointed. She said it only took several minutes to assemble as it came pretty much put together. It is very sturdy and my daughter loves sitting in it. She is only 5 months old and it has plenty of room for growth, but still fits her well. I would highly recommend

great chair but

I love this chair. It is the perfect size for our small home. Baby loves it too. We bought the espresso finish, assuming it was a stained finish. However, it turns out that it is just painted and started chipping off a month after we used it. We all know babies love to bite things highchairs included. So now I have to make sure that my baby doesn't bite the chair so he won't ingest paint. Go for the natural finish, of course assuming it is truly a "finish" and not paint.

Cute but annoying

Reviewer: Anonymous , Port Washington, WI Date: January 04, 2009
This chair is OK. It is certainly attractive, but doesn't appear very well made. In fact, the first one we received had a sharp screw sticking out the top of the tray, and a large gash in the wood of the seat. That was sent back, and the new one is certainly serviceable. However, it is quite difficult to get my son in and out of the chair. It's OK.

Great chair, couple small quirks

5
Reviewer: Kristin , Boise, ID Date: December 01, 2008
This is a great chair and we love it! Although we've never used any other. We wanted a chair that was non-toxic and eco-friendly. We were going to go with the Svan Chair that everyone seems to have, but were quite happy to find this chair that had characteristics we wanted for 100$ less, by the same company. Two quirks: 1) if you want to move the table in closer to the child (for smaller babies), you have to remove a piece that is screwed to the bottom of the table piece. Not a big deal to do. 2) It's a little difficult pressing the release buttons and pulling the table out at the same time, if you want to do that. I have no idea if this differs at all from the "Svan." Again, not a big deal so far. We've been using it for a couple of months now, since our baby turned 6 months. Again, we highly recommend this chair!
