Our Review of the Peg Perego Prima Pappa Diner high chair

The Italian Peg Perego Prima Pappa Diner High Chair is a fashion statement on its own with beautiful patterns and designs for the fabric and matching chassis. With seven height positions and four reclining positions, this high chair can be maneuvered into place with only one hand to fit practically any age group, from infant to toddler.  A dishwasher safe, removable tray makes cleaning up after meals a snap.

Benefits for Mom & Dad: The removable padded insert and vinyl covering of the Prima Pappa's seat make for much easier cleanups. Four convenient swivel wheels make this Peg Perego highchair easier to move from room to room, and Peg Perego has also included a pair of rear wheel brakes for safety and stability.

The Diner High Chair is also a folding high chair, folding down compactly and standing independently when in the folded position. One of the best features is that the Prima Pappa comes fully assembled; all you need to do is attach the caster wheels and it's ready for use. The double tray system features a dishwasher safe dinner tray for easy cleanup.

Benefits for Baby: The breathable, microfiber fabric is whisper soft on baby's skin. A 5-point harness and leg divider keeps little ones secure. Adjustable to 7 height positions and reclinable, the Prima Pappa Diner High Chair accommodates growing children and functions as an adjustable youth chair as your toddler gets bigger.

Safety:

  • 5-point harness
  • Anatomic safety leg divider
  • JPMA safety certified

Comparison: For a step up in features and luxury, check out the Peg Perego Prima Pappa Best High Chair, which features similar styling as the Primma Pappa Diner, with the added benefits of an adjustable footrest, storage pouch, exclusive fabrics, and a tray that stores compactly on the chair legs when folded. Of course, these added benefits come with a higher price tag.

Peg Perego Prima Pappa Diner high chair

The pros: It looks great. It is sturdy. It folds easily. The size of it for our daughter has worked out well. The cons: Food gets stuck easily into the creases of the chair. It is not difficult to clean but I find that unless I take it out and hose it down, bits of food get left in it. The tray is REALLY difficult to take off. I have to use both hands and YANK it out. Overall, it has been a good chair. However, I will not buy another Peg for our younger daughter. In my opinion, there has to be a better chair or at least the same for less money.

As the mother of 5 children ages 14-6 mo. I have used the same Peg Perego high chair throughout the last 14 years and I love this brand. Recently I needed 2 more high chairs for our 18 mo. old and 6 month old so I started shopping. The vinyl on the old model was deteriorating after so many years! I have not found a chair with as many features and as durable as Peg Perego. The Prima Pappa is nice and my only complaint is the padded seat. it is very hard to clean with so many crevices. The older model I own was so perfect and easy to clean up and yet the seat was still padded and comfortable without all the crevices. I think they compromised looks for practicality. I couldn't find any other brand that had a padded seat with less crevices so I stayed with Peg Perego for reliability. I love the color, the seat restraint buckle, the awesome wheels and the overall strength of the high chair.

Peg Perego Prima Papa

I love this chair! I purchased it 4 years ago for our 1st daughter and now our second daughter is enjoying it. We have the The Oatmeal Leatherette. The chair is easy to wipe clean. Removable tray top makes it easy to clean and get messy dinners out of the way quickly. Our daughter (16 months) also like to color and the tray has room and the crayons don't roll off. I will feel very sad when she outgrows it.

We love our prima pappa high chair, the removeable top tray is great, it folds up fairly easily--but you need both hands, cleaning it is nice because the pad is removeable.

highchair has some flaws

2
Reviewer: Shaaron B , San Diego, CA Date: July 01, 2006
I loved the mod checkered design on this chair. It didn't have obnoxious bright colors that would clash with my other decor. On the negative side, the tray seems a little tough to remove; I must use both hands pretty forcefully to yank it out. The chair's height is also difficult to adjust going up. The biggest problem though, is that that the strap restraints become unhooked in the back very easily with my child's movement which could be very dangerous if the tray were not in, keeping him in the chair. I hope Peg Perego gets many complaints about that because fixing this flaw could save a kid from a serious fall.
