Our Review of the Chicco Caddy Hook On chair

The Chicco Caddy Hook On high chair is lightweight and folds compactly for travel anywhere you might need it. At seven pounds, it can easily be carried and transported to wherever you need it. The removable, machine-washable, padded seat adds a good measure of comfort for your child.

The Chicco Caddy Hook On will:

  • Fit tables from .75 to 4 inches thick and up to a 6-inch collar
  • Hold children from 6 to 36 months
  • Hold children up to 37 lbs.

The rubberized arms won't mark tables and they lock in place for security. A three-point harness makes sure your child stays safe and sound in the seat. One important cautionary note to mention is that you should be sure the table you're attaching this seat to is stable enough to hold a child on its end. Some single post tables can be tippy as it is, so it wouldn?t be a good idea to add a 35-pound child to the end. Just use common sense and you should be fine.

If you're in the market for a portable high chair but can't decide between the Chicco Caddy Hook On or the similar Chicco Travel Seat, the differences are fairly simple. The Travel seat is the slightly higher end model that has better quality fabrics and a more fashionable design. The Caddy Hook On is more simple in design.

Best Choice for Home and Travel

We purchased another similar hook on chair for comparison to the Chicco Caddy Hook On Chair, but there was no comparison. The Chicco fits almost any table and is much more sturdy than the more expensive chair we compared it to. It also has much better back and bottom support. We have a toddler and infant so kitchen space is limited for bulky hi-chairs. We have two of these hooked on our breakfast bar so the boys can eat together. Very easy to take apart and wash the cover, which cleans up to look brand new. We did order extra covers for each of the chairs as we have very messy eaters and mom doesn't have time to do laundry everyday! Our only complaint is there is a small gap between the seat and the counter, so a lot of food will end up on the floor. The other brand also had a gap. We just have to sweep after every meal which is far better than scrubbing the nooks and crannies of the bulky hi-chairs.

Great chair, a pain to keep clean

I really like this chair , it has worked well with our traveling missionary lifestyle. Two cons are it does not stay clean as easy as a high chair. Food stays stuck on the chair, but you can launder it very easily. This has to be done at least once a week. The other con is it doesn't have a locking mechanism for while it is in its folded for travel position (as well as it doesn't get as small as I would like, but it still is compact enough to travel with easily). The pros are the bottom pad/board is removable for easy laundering, and the chair is very easy to take apart and put back together. Also, the locking mechanisms for it to hook onto the table are so secure, I move the table from pulling on the chair. It becomes one with the table so to speak. It is our regular high chair and we take it to potlucks and other table game, or gathering events. Overall, we are very pleased with the chair. Definitely recommend it.

Good Alternative to Bulky Highchairs

We bought this highchair for our daughter when she was 6 mos. old. We didn't want another bulky baby item in our house and thought this would be a great solution. We loved it initially, but as she got older and began to feed herself we discovered the pitfalls. There is a reason why highchairs have removable trays...so you can take them to the sink to rinse them off..or better yet, throw them in the dishwasher. We were CONSTANTLY running back and forth from the sink to the counter wiping up the messes. Plus, any liquid seeps under the arms and you have to remove the chair from the table/counter to clean under it. We used this chair on our granite counter top which wasn't quite deep enough for the chair to fit all the way flush with the edge so food always fell through the gap and onto the floor. To get the cover off is a bit of a process since you have to take the chair apart, but once off it can be thrown into the washing machine, buckles and all. I would wash the arms and body parts of the chair in the kitchen sink and when the fabric came out of the wash it was as good as new. When I got pregnant with my second baby, I swore I would just buy a "real" highchair because I was tired of all of the work it took to keep the counter and chair clean. However, here I am researching high chairs and still haven't found the perfect solution. It seems that all of the other travel chairs out there either won't accommodate a table with a "lip" or they don't have a removable cover to wash in a machine (or both). I'm realizing that the Chicco was actually a pretty good little chair if you're dead set on having a space saver highchair. It would be MUCH better if it had a tray that went over the arms and kept the food off the table itself. My first baby now sits at a "baby smart cooshie chair" at the kitchen table to eat, but still likes to hang out in her Chicco to play with play doh or color, etc. We love having her company in the kitchen and love not having the food to clean up. Now if only we could get Chicco to create a tray in time for our second baby!!

Great Spacesaver

We use a peninsula type counter for our eating area. The Chico Caddy Hook on chair has been bery convenient for our purposes. It hooks onto our counter and our baby loves it. No bulky chair. Only wish there was a snap on tray to bridge the gap between the chair and baby.
